2018 C2E2 EXCLUSIVE: Actress Sarah Gilman Talks DAPHNE & VELMA
Aside from the superhero prominence being seen in pop culture currently, another equally prominent element being seen time and time again are characters from other recognizable non-superhero IPs (Intellectual Properties). One great example of such a property would be that of Scooby Doo. Having appeared in various forms of media from the small screen to the big screen to the digital realm, the property has continued to go strong for decades.
With that in mind, at C2E2 this year, I caught up with Sarah Gilman, one of the stars of the newest chapters in the Scooby-Doo universe, DAPHNE & VELMA. Directed by Suzi Yoonessi, the film follows the beginnings of the two iconic female characters within the Scooby gang (before they joined up with their other team members). In my interview with Sarah, we discuss the challenge of playing such a revered member of the Scooby gang as well as the importance of portraying a strong, capable female character.
